As in 2004 for the First World Projection of
Hauru no Ugoku Shiro, I had the opportunity to enter the
Venezia Film Festival not as a simple spectator, but like something more.. I went there for the projection of
Miyazaki Goro's "
Gedo Senki", the last Studio Ghibli's movie.
Sunday the 3rd, at 8.30, I left home with Cri and my friends Sara, Tommy and Talo. 5 in total and only one car. At 13 we were in Venice and after a long boat trip we reached the Lido.
There I met Mio Masuko from NTV's television, so busy and smiling. I hadn't see Mio for two years and was very very happy to meet her! There also were a journalist and a cameraman. The troup was so kind to buy for us the tickets and give us as presents.
In front of the main entrance of Sala Grande, our Ghibli's stuff in our hands, surrounded by lots of persons, they interviewed us, and we spoke about our passions, previsions and expectations. We were a little shy but it was very funny!
Then at 4.50 the film started in
Sala Grande. A lot of people was waiting for the projection and
Miyazaki Goro and
Suzuki Toshio were there with us inside the room.
1 hour and 55 minutes was the film's lenght. A very beautiful film, with adult meanings, good animations, colours and a story not espected at all.
Goro isn't Hayao, and this is good, he created something different, less childish but not inferior. Ghibli Studio is always present, for the character design and the beautiful landskapes, but inside there was something never seen.
I really liked it, totally unprepared to this film, having not read quite anything about the film before watching it!
The ending was followed by a long standing ovation of the pubblic.
A little setback didn't permit us to meet Mio the first minutes following the ending, but later we had the opportunity to say goodbye and thank each others. I'm really grateful to Mio for these fantastic moments!
Our day followed eating, making funny pics, meeting some friends and returning to our car, parked in Fusina camping, out of Venice doors!
A very great adventure! ^^
Here are some pics of that day!
